As part of the RES4LIVE project, the 3rd Greek National Workshop, organized by the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) and focused on egg-laying hens, was successfully held online on Thursday, September 12, 2024. The workshop had a dual objective: to present the project’s proposed solutions and, more importantly, to identify challenges and explore alternative prospects for integrating Renewable Energy Source (RES) technologies in poultry farms. The target audience – comprising egg producers, poultry farm manufacturers, policymakers in the poultry farming sector, and researchers specializing in animal production and renewable energy – actively engaged in the discussions.
The project team introduced the RES4LIVE concept and provided detailed explanations of the proposed solutions. The presentations highlighted the AUA pilot farm systems, examining their performance in terms of energy consumption, renewable energy production, environmental impact, and economic viability. The insights gained during the presentations are crucial for refining and advancing RES technologies, even beyond the project’s completion.

As with previous workshops, the outcomes of this event will be communicated to the European Commission (EC), setting the stage for meaningful discussions on the need for new policies in the EU agri-food sector. These efforts aim to enhance the comprehensiveness, cost-effectiveness, and adaptability of RES4LIVE solutions across various contexts.
